  • Why should I hire a crew?
  • Crew On Call are a helping hand. If you want to spend more time boating and less time worrying a crew member is available to help. Crew can help run the boat, attend to guests, provide on-board training or just to help clean up at the end of the day.
  • How do I select a crew?
  • Search for crew or post a request. Crew On Call will match your request to listed crew members and show you the results or have the crew contact you. You can communicate directly with any crew you find and choose the best fit.
  • What do Crew do?
  • Select any of the options offered in the search (Captain, mate, service etc). Make sure that you are clear about expectations and the job in the description and when communicating with the crew member.
  • How much should I pay?
  • It depends on the service and the crew you are looking for. Once you find a crew member that fits your needs it is a good idea to discuss pricing before making a commitment. You can negotiate pricing directly with the crew but remember you get what you pay for in most cases.
  • Does Crew On Call certify crews?
  • No. Crew On Call does not certify or verify crew profiles. Crew representing themselves as captains should have their U.S. Coast Guard reference number listed and you can easily verify their license on the U.S. Coast Guard’s website. Other services should be accepted based on crew profiles and communications prior to hiring any crew member.
  • Does Crew On Call insure crew?
  • No. Crew may be covered by the vessel’sinsurance but you should verify with the vessel insurance provider. Crew On Call does not provide insurance to boaters, crew or the vessel.
  • Who can see my profile?
  • Crew searches show a first name, positions, specialties selected, profile pic and the description. Only subscribed boaters can select to contact crew thru the portal. Last names, phone numbers, location and email are never shared. If you choose to communicate directly, you can provide whatever info you want in the messaging portal on the site. If you prefer to remain anonymous you can do that also.
  • How do Crew get paid?
  • Crew are hired and paid directly by the boater. Crew On Call does not collect or guarantee payment. Crew members have the option to place their own PayPal link on their profile and reqest the boaters to pay for the service directly or any other payment arrangements accepted by both the boater and crew.
  • Will my insurance cover crew?
  • That is a question only your insurance company can answer. Most policies cover crew, but verify with your company.
  • How do I verify crew?
  • Ask to see their credentials. Alternatively, captains can be verified by entering their last name and USCG reference number into the USCG database. You can reach that here, http://www.uscg.mil/nmc/ and go to "Credential Verification" Select Single Mariner Search at the bottom and enter the captains Last Name and Reference number from the captains profile.
